This is the start of my design for my front cover magazine. As you can see I have added my masthead, cover line and my main photo. To improve I just need to add some pull quotes and a few more other relevant details to my front cover.

Masthead progress designs

These are all my designs that I had thought of for my magazine masthead. It was very tough deciding which type of design I wanted for my magazine because although I had the idea in my head of what I wanted it was hard to translate that on to Illustrator. However the masthead design in the bottom right corner of the screenshot is the design that I decided to go ahead with as I felt it matched my idea more than the others.

PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO


As part of my magazine I have to make sure that the photos for my magazine Front Page, Contents page and Double page spread were my own work. So to get the best photos possible I was given a small induction of the photography studio in my college as I will be using this to take all the photos in my magazine. During this induction I learnt all the information needed in order to get the best possible photo for my magazine, including the lighting, camera settings/buttons and how to use the spacing properly.

The Fill Light - This light is key because it can add a creative effect to the photograph. The main effect it has on the photograph is that it can reduce and add more of a contrast to the photo. An example of this is that you could make one side of a persons darker whereas the other side of the face is much brighter.

 

The key light - This is the main source of light in photography, so it could be considered the most important light when taking a professional photo hence the word 'key'. This light is important because it can determine whether the lighting best fits what type of photo you are trying to produce whether it is a 'dark' photo or a 'light' photo.

 



Introduction

This is my blog where I will be uploading the work I will be doing for my AS Media coursework. You can expect to see a variety of content on display from magazine designs, analysing, evaluations etc.

I thought the final design was a success, especially because it was my first time using In Design. I thought my article was good because the layout of the article was the way I planned it to be in the first place so I can say my layout plan was a success.

A way to improve would be to know In Designs tools better
